From Principal Zach Seawell: Calvert Middle School is excited to recognize Ashley Dare as our Teacher of the Year. Ms. Dare began in Calvert County in 2008 and has taught English language arts and special education at Calvert Middle School for 10 years.

Ms. Dare is the kind of teacher and staff member that everyone wishes was a part of their staff. She is flexible, dependable, positive and pleasant to be around, and always willing to help her coworkers. In addition, Ms. Dare is the kind of teacher that every student wants to have. She is dedicated to their success, encouraging, and fun.

This year, Ms. Dare has been instrumental in helping Calvert Middle School implement our inclusion efforts in coordination with the Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Education. She helps to lead our collaborative planning with our seventh-grade teachers and is responsible for many of our seventh-grade successes. Since requesting to move to special education from regular education four years ago, Ms. Dare has developed into a master co-teacher and now a collaborative support teacher. Ms. Dare is known by her colleagues as being extremely caring and dedicated to her students, and she is very deserving of this recognition. Calvert Middle School is pleased to honor her as our Teacher of the Year nominee for this year. Congratulations!
