UPDATE 5/1/2019 12:20 am- From the Fire Marshal’s Report:

The fire occurred due to an electrical malfunction in the attic of the home.  A neighbor discovered the fire and alerted the occupant who escaped without injury.  The occupant was displaced as a result of the fire and is being assisted by neighbors and family members. The damage is estimated to be $200,000 in structure and a loss of $50,000 in contents.


UPDATE 5/1/2019 4:30 a.m.- Kentucky Avenue was reopened in all directions at 12:20 a.m.. The La Plata Fire department reports that the fire took place in a single family dwelling, with one occupant. The occupant was take to an area hospital for a check-up and minor burns with no other injuries reported.

A Fire Marshal’s report is pending.


UPDATE: Road Closed Update-Kentucky Ave now shut down from Charles St to Bowling Dr/Trinity Church Rd.


Dentsville,Md– Fire personnel are currently on the scene of a house fire on Kentucky Avenue in the area of Charles Street and Kentucky Home Place. That area is currently closed.

The Fire Marshal and American Red Cross have been called in. Red Cross cancelled Units report the majority of the fire has been knocked.
