Amy Hysan can be described by one simple word – dedicated. Whether she is teaching English Language arts in the classroom, coaching track or running the PBIS program at Mill Creek, you can rest assured that Ms. Hysan is “all in”. Even after teaching for 12 years, Ms. Hysan is still excited about learning. She actively seeks outside professional development to refine her craft and spends many hours each week working with her peers on the sixth-grade team to ensure that her students at Mill Creek receive a rigorous and relevant education.
Ms. Hysan’s expectations are high as her students will tell you; they will also tell you that she provides a safe and supportive environment to guarantee that her students succeed. Ms. Hysan’s success as a teacher is due in no small part to her work ethic. There are many evenings where she can be found in her classroom hours after her students have left – except if there is a Washington Capitals’ game!
To say that we are blessed to have Amy Hysan as an educator at Mill Creek is truly an understatement.
