State Highway Fishing Creek Bridge is nearing completion and is on schedule to be completed in mid June:This week State Highway continues to work through the center wall barrier removal. Please expect intermittent lane closures.

May 10 – RIBS & CRAB DINNER– The Sons of the American Legion Stallings Williams Post 206 are planning their popular ribs & crab dinner from 5:50 to 7:00 p.m. on May 10. The cost of $15 includes salad, sides, roll, and beverage. Dinner will be served at the Post located at 3330 Chesapeake Beach Road, East on Route 260. Questions should be directed to 410-257-9878. May 11 – COUNTRY DANCE.Come to the Country Dance at the American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206 on Route 260 in Chesapeake Beach. If you can’t dance, we’ll show you how. May 12 – MOTHERS’ DAY BREAKFAST. Invite Mom to start out HER day with a luscious breakfast. The American Legion Auxiliary is putting its best foot forward with Gift Drawings for Mom and Belgian Waffles cooked to order by our Master Waffle Chef. Choose from an array of toppings. The Kitchen Cooks will also whip up Ham, Sausage, Scrapple, Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, Home Fries, Biscuits, Fresh Fruit, Chip Beef, plus some extras! The Breakfast Buffet will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the upper level Dining Room in Chesapeake Beach on Route 260. Adults $12; kids 6-12 $6; kids under 6 free. May 14 – 6:30 pm. “Horseshoe Crabs: Blue Bloods of the Bay.”Join Marek Topolski, Maryland Department of Natural Resources, as he discusses the natural history, biology, and importance of horseshoe crabs to the Bay ecosystem.Come to the Northeast Community Centerto learn about Horseshoe Crab conservation efforts and how you can help stranded crabs this season. May 18 – Relay By The Bay.The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers. They are asking for a minimum of 3 hours and each volunteer will receive a free volunteer t-shirt. To sign up to volunteer,click here.

May 18 from 8 am – noon. Free Shredding Event for County residents at Huntingtown High School.The Calvert County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, is hosting a FREE paper shredding event for County residents. The shred event is rain or shine.

May 22 from 9 am-11:30 am. The Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse and Calvert County overdose intervention team will hold a Drug-Free workplace training workshopto educate local business owners on the signs and symptoms of substance abuse. The free event will be held at Harriett E. Brown Community Center at 901 Dares Beach Rd. Prince Frederick.

June 1 – CBOCS Oyster transfer from Fishing Creek to Old Rock Reef – spat counting -Abner’s Boat Yard, 10AM – Noon – 25 volunteers needed – pizza at noon.

BINGO!!!Come and join your friends and neighbors and support your local first responders at the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Bingo is held every Tuesday. Doors open at 6:00 and games start at 7:30. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Last game of the night is the Jackpot with possible prize of $1000. All proceeds go to support the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
