PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – May 23, 2019 – The Calvert County Department of Planning & Zoning announces the release of the Calvert County Flood Mitigation Plan Annual Progress Report. The plan includes Calvert County’s flooding history, a description of the flooding issues impacting the county, a flood vulnerability assessment, property protection measures and preventative measures.  Calvert County participates in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Community Rating System (CRS) program, which requires the county to engage in activities that protect the 100-year floodplain, educate citizens and empower the community by providing 100-year floodplain information and data resources. As of May 1, 2015, Calvert County’s participation in FEMA’s CRS program allows county residents owning property with structures within the 100-year floodplain to receive a discount on flood insurance premiums when renewing policies.
