News Release, St. Mary’s College of Maryland

NEWPORT, R.I. – St. Mary’s College of Maryland sailing competed in the semifinals of the Gill College Sailing Coed National Championships on Tuesday (May 28) and Wednesday (May 29) and captured a third place finish in the eastern semifinal. The competition has been narrowed down to the top 18 teams, who will advance to racing in the finals this morning out of host site, Sail Newport Sailing Center at Fort Adams.

Sailing for the Seahawks is: Liam McCarthyKatherine Bjerregaard, and Kaisey McCallion in A Division. Leo BoucherLydia McPherson-ShambargerLewis Cooper, and Ashley Wagner are competing in the B Division.

The Seahawks finished with a total of 176 points for the third place finish in the eastern semifinal, but the scoreboard is wiped clean for the finals that start today. The first warning for racing is at 10 a.m. The sailors will compete for the national tile and the Henry A. Morss Memorial Trophy for the next two days.
