LOCAL COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS:
 

June 8th – END HUNGER DRAGON BOAT RACES at the North Beach boardwalk. Come cheer the Town of Chesapeake Beach on as they race to maintain the Mayor’s Cup.
 

June 8 – COUNTRY DANCE.  For a fun time, come to the Country Dance at the American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206 on Route 260 in Chesapeake Beach.  If you can’t dance, teachers will be available to give instruction.  One hour lessons commence at 7:00 p.m. followed by dancing from 8:00 p.m. until midnight.  The Modest price of $15.00 per person includes soft drinks or draft beer and light munchies.  Hosted by the American Legion 206 in the upper level Ballroom in Chesapeake Beach on Route 260.   For information call 410-257-9878. It’s almost Father’s Day and Bay Weekly needs your help! We had so much fun with our Mother’s Day lookalike contest (winners are announced in this week’s paper) that we’re doing it all over again for Father’s Day. If you know a dad and kid(s) with an uncanny resemblance, please forward the information below to them.    For your Father-Child photos to appear in our June 13 issue:

1. Send a photo of the two of you.
2. Caption it with a short family story about your resemblance.
3. Tell us who’s who by name and town, identifying both father and child.
4. Provide us a point of contact.
Email to lookalikes@bayweekly.com before 1pm Monday June 10.  Photos will again be voted on by readers and prizes awarded.
 

BINGO!!! Come and join your friends and neighbors and support your local first responders at the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Bingo is held every Tuesday. Doors open at 6:00 and games start at 7:30. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Last game of the night is the Jackpot with possible prize of $1000. All proceeds go to support the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
 

North Beach VFD Auxiliary’s Yard Sale will be held from 8:00 am until 12:00pm on every 2nd Saturday of the month from April to October. Please contact Diana after 5:00pm, at 410/231-1775 to  reserve a table.
 

June 14 – FLAG DAY CEREMONY. Stallings-Williams American Legion Post 206 will conduct its Annual Flag Day Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. at the Post, outdoors upper level Parking Lot All members and the general public are invited to attend.  For information call (410) 257-9878.  http://post206.legionsites.com/
 

June 15 – ACOUSTIC MUSIC – For your listening pleasure, join us in the Lower Level Lounge to hear music from Ross Crampton from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. with the compliments of the American Legion Stallings Williams Post 206 at 3330 Chesapeake Beach Road East on Rt. 260 in Chesapeake Beach. June 16 – SPECIAL FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST.  Honor Dad by treating him to a special breakfast featuring the Master Chef’s Waffles with Strawberries and Cream, Sausage, Ham, Scrapple, Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, Home Fries, Biscuits, Fresh Fruit, Pastries, and Chip Beef.  Drawings for Gifts for Dad.  Hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the upper level Dining Hall in Chesapeake Beach on Route 260.  Open to the Public.    Adults $12; kids 6-12 $6; kids under 6 free.  Bloody Marys will be available for a nominal charge.  For information call 410-257-9878.  http://post206.legionsites.com/
 

June 27 – A “Quarter Craze” is being held at the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department, 8536 Bayside Rd., Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732.  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for shopping opportunities and the auction will start at 7:00 p.m.  The cost for a bidding paddle, with a number that corresponds with a numbered ball, is $3.00.  There will be food and drinks available for purchasing, raffles, door prizes and great vendors.  Please come to enjoy lots of fun and bring your Quarters (some quarters will be available)!  This event is in support of the NBVFD’s Auxiliary. Reserve your vendor space today!  The third annual Taste the Beaches event, attracting an estimated 2,000 attendees annually, is an outdoor festival with a community block party vibe; showcasing local businesses, restaurants, venues and attractions available in the Towns of Chesapeake Beach and North Beach.
