BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie Baysox pitching staff combined to toss a one-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the Trenton Thunder in front of 4,187 at Prince George’s Stadium Friday night.

Trenton drew four walks against Bowie starterZac Lowther, but the lefty settled in over five innings of work to earn his sixth win of the season. The Ohioan recorded five of his seven strikeouts in his final two innings–including retiring the side via the punchout in the fourth inning-to drop his season ERA to 1.96.

Making his first relief appearance of the season,Hunter Harveyallowed a walk as the only baserunner in three innings. The righty struck out four batters of his own to receive the hold, while LHPTyler Erwinpitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his eighth save of 2019.

Rylan Bannonbroke up the scoreless duel in the fourth inning to give the Baysox (28-37) a 1-0 lead. The second baseman lined a two-out single to right-center field off Trenton starterGarrett Whitlock, scoringRyan McKennafor RBI no. 26 of the season.

Jesse Valentin drove in a key insurance run in the seventh inning to double the hosts’ lead. On the first pitch from Thunder relieverWill Carter, the third baseman flared a RBI single to shallow center field.Carlos Perez, who drew a one-out walk and advanced to third base on aPreston Palmeirosingle, trotted home with the game’s second run.

Yusniel Diazcapped the offense by launching his third home run in as many games to deep left field. The solo shot in the eighth inning off relieverDomingo Acevedomarked the fourth of the season for the right fielder.

Bowie and Trenton (36-26) continue their lone three-game series in Maryland Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. Terminix sponsors a night dedicated to celebrating ‘Stranger Things.’ Actress Cara Buono, who plays Karen Wheeler, will be in attendance to meet fans and sign autographs on the concourse before and during the game.
