St. Charles, MD- On May 22, 2019, a former Environmental Science and Earth Systems Teacher at St. Charles High School; Ms. De’Etta Michelle Winemiller was involved in an alleged drug transaction. Ms. Winemiller is a resident of Great Mills, MD.

Maryland Case Search has Ms. Winemiller being charged on June 13, 2019, with two counts of Solicitation of Narcotics, 2 counts of possession of narcotics, and one count of attempted posssesion- not marijuana. Ms. Winemiller had her initial court appearance on June 20, 2019, and was given an unsecured bond of $1500.00, which was posted that day.

The incident became known to the public when an email was sent to parents of students at St. Charles High School by the principal, in which they state they were made aware of the accusations on May 22, 2019, and that Ms. Winemiller was removed from the school and placed on administrative leave. It is Charles County policy that when an accusation is made against staff, they are removed from he school and prohibited contact with any students.

The principal sent the email because even though it is summer break,” they felt it was important to notify” parents about the arrest.

Ms Winemiller’s case is scheduled for trial on August 6, 2019 at 8:45 a.m.
