Prince Frederick, MD- Former Calvert County Commissioner Barbara Stinnett(D) passed away over the weekend. Stinnett was a Commissioner from 1986-1990, 1998-2002, and 2006-2010.

She was also a member of the Maryland Democratic Central Committee, Calvert County Democratic Women(President), Ducks Unlimited, Calvert County Optimist Club and many other organizations throughout her life. She was an honorary member of the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department.

Ms. Stinnett was born in Chicago, Ill. and is a graduate of Calvert High School, residing in Calvert County for over 60 years.

Besides serving multiple terms as a County Commissioner, Ms. Stinnett also was a Legislative and Administrative Assistant to State Senator Roy P. Dyson for 14 years in his Congressional and State Senate Office.

Ms. Stinnet was the owner-operator of an income tax and accounting company and was previously in a financial management position for 17 years with Wayson’s Amusement Company.

Ms. Stinnett has four children and 12 grandchildren.
