Prince Frederick, MD- Looking for a classy, comfortable restaurant with great food and service? Look no more…Heritage 485 has all of these! Heritage 485, the brainchild of Owner/Chef Michael Benson combines a casual, yet elegant atmosphere with eclectic, interesting cuisine.
I went this past Sunday, July 14, 2019, for brunch. Brunch is served from 10am-3pm and has a special menu. We started with a couple of appetizers…those who know me, know I love anything watermelon…so we got the Watermelon Crab Salad and the Poutine.
The salad was fabulous. It was layered flavors of watermelon, cucumber, pickled onion, and fresh crabmeat with a pistachio vinaigrette. Properly layered food is a balance of flavor with no one flavor overpowering the others.
Our second appetizer was Poutine, which is hand-cut fries with cheese curds and gravy. Yum! It reminded me of having fries and gravy when I was a child. Only this was way better!
Our entrees were Eggs Benedict and Shrimp Po’ Boy Tacos. They were both so good, I can’t pick which one I liked better.
The eggs in the Eggs Benedict were perfectly poached and were perched atop crispy pork belly and grilled brioche. The hollandaise sauce was the perfect compliment! And they were served with delicious House Hash Browns.
The Shrimp Po’ Boy Tacos were lightly breaded shrimp with Tasso ham, lettuce, pickled veggies, flour tortilla, and remoulade sauce. Once again, the flavors were spot on. I also liked that the tortilla was lightly grilled.
And if that wasn’t enough, we got dessert (I did take leftovers home). Dessert was Peach Crisp with cinnamon ice cream. The peaches were fresh and, with their skins on, held their shape.
We also sampled a couple of their brunch drinks! They have $4.00 Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas! Our entire meal was perfect and our server (Jennifer) was excellent!
Heritage 485 is located on Main Street in Prince Frederick. The house was built in 1891 and was turned into the Old Field Inn restaurant in 1984. Old Field Inn remained a landmark and offered fine dining for many years.
In April 2017, Michael opened Heritage 485. His food philosophy is to provide a comfortable place to enjoy fresh, creative dishes. He has lobster flown in fresh from Maine and tries to use locally-sourced ingredients. Heritage 485 is one of my favorites!!
Heritage 485 is presenting their Crab Fest July 16-21. They will be serving crab specials for half-off. They will also have a crab appetizer with crab cake entrée for just $20. They will have crab soup, crab salad, crab potpie, and crab cake, all made with fresh blue crabmeat! This is a great opportunity to try them out!
