News Release, Leonardtown Business Association

Leonardtown, MD—The Leonardtown Business Association would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to all those who attended First Responder First Friday on August 2nd.

The town was already buzzing from the Fox 5 Zip Trip that morning and the excitement lasted throughout the evening.  The town square was filled with First Responders from all over St. Mary’s County, nearly every Fire Department & Rescue Squad was present with an apparatus and several auxiliaries attended with raffles & fundraisers.  St Mary’s County & Maryland State Police also joined us in the event with Animal Control, Department of Emergency Services and more.

The town square was filled with visitors strolling around and the kids sure did enjoy climbing in the fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances.  It truly was a wonderful evening to meet your local first responders, thank them for their service and even find out how to become one yourself.  The Josh Riley Band provided entertainment for the evening and Josh’s dad a local first responder himself was in attendance to enjoy the evening.

We would also like to extend a thank you to the First Friday committee for organizing a fabulous event and to Jay Mattingly from the Department of Emergency Services for helping us contact all the local departments and coordinate their participation.

Please join us for our next First Friday event on September 6th for our ArtWalk event. The First Friday events are hosted by the Leonardtown Business Association and sponsored by Quality Built Homes, Marrick Homes, Leonardtown Chevrolet, Buick and GMC, and St Mary’s County Tourism.
