Can you lend us a helping hand? Marriage certificates are among our most requested records, needed not only for genealogy, but also for driver’s license renewal, passports, Social Security, health benefits, and other official applications.

To search these records, indexes are vital for locating them in a timely manner, but unfortunately, some recorded material does not have these necessary indexes. For example, no index exists for Maryland marriages that took place in 1978, and we have thousands of certificates in our holdings.

In order to seek out help for creating an index, we’ve put the certificates up for transcription on ‘From the Page.’ If you can spare a few minutes to do a quick transcription, or review what others have done, we would greatly appreciate the help!
