News Release, Town of La Plata

Bay K9 is an all-volunteer Search and Rescue team located in Charles county. We provide bloodhound trailing services free to law enforcement agencies and other first responders.

Bloodhounds are scent specific by nature and therefore can be used to trail and find specific lost people under certain conditions. Currently, they have two Bloodhounds: Mathilda, 41/2 and Charlotte, 3 1/2 years old. Their mothers were litter-mates, so they are 1st cousins!

During the program, they will talk about what to do if you get lost and discuss a few useful items to carry with you on a hike. After the program, they will do a demonstration with the hounds to find a lost person from the audience

The Town of La Plata will host five summer shows for kids at Town Hall.  The shows are geared towards preschool and elementary age children and are approximately 45 minutes long.  The shows are free and open to the public. Today’s show starts at 10:00 a.m.

Shows will be held outdoors on the West lawn where the Friday night concerts take place (weather permitting – shows will not be moved indoors).  Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for sitting.

No concessions will be available, but you are welcome to bring drinks and snacks along.
