On August 28, 2019, at approximately 10:00 p.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 37000 block of Golden Beach Road in Charlotte Hall, for the reported single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.  

The operator of the motorcycle, later identified as Samuel Brent Talton, age 24 of Mechanicsville, was located at the scene with incapacitating injuries.  The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation.

A preliminary investigation determined a 2005 Suzuki GSX 1300R motorcycle operated by Talton, was attempting to perform stunts when the operator lost control of the motorcycle and struck a concrete pole.

Talton succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.

UPDATE 8/29/2019 7:30 a.m.- The article’s title has been changed to clarify the town. Witnesses at the scene state that the rider was on a sport-style motorcycle with several other riders present.

The rider was said to be performing a wheelie in the parking lot of the Park and Ride when he crashed into a light pole.

We are awaiting more information from the St. mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.


UPDATE 10:32 p.m.- The Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department is confirming this a fatality.

Golden Beach, MD- A motorcycle crash has been reported at the Park and Ride on Golden Beach Road.

Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad are on the scene and are reporting this is an extremely dire situation with CPR being done. Rescue Squad 2 is reporting that this is a fatality

Expect delays in the area and watch for emergency vehicles and personnel.
