UPDATE 7:398 a.m.- The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office has spoken with us to add some more details. The crash was originally reported as a three-vehicle crash. It has since been upgraded to four vehicles.

The preliminary report states that an on-duty Calvert County Deputy, in n unmarked vehcile was slowing for a red-light when the vehicle behind then rear-ended his vehicle and caused a chain reaction crash.

The Deputy was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma and is listed in serious, but stable condition. Two other victims were transported to Calvert Hospital for minor injuries.

The road is re-opened per the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office at 8:05 a.m.

UPDATE 7:00 a.m.- The Southern Maryland Chronicle has spoken with Kristen Leitch, PIO for the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. Three vehicles were involved. One patient was MEDEVAC”d to Baltimore Shock Trauma in critical condition. Two others were transported to Calvert Hospital.

All lanes are currently closed. Expect heavy delays.

Huntingtown, MD- The Calvert County Police are responding to a motor vehicle crash on Northbound Route 4 near Cox Road.

The Police are suggesting to motorists to take Plum Point Road as an alternate route.
