ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland field hockey team (10-2, 0-1 CAC) opened up Capital Athletic Conference play against the No. 3 Salisbury University Sea Gulls (11-1, 1-0 CAC) on Saturday (Oct. 12) afternoon. The Seahawks fell to the Sea Gulls 2-0.

How It Happened
- The Sea Gulls jumped out to an early lead by recording their only two scores in the first stanza. Camryn Dennis found the back of the cage in the 6th minute and McKenzie Mitchell tallied a goal in the 9th minute.
- The Seahawks struggled to crack the Sea Gull defense and failed to record a shot in the first three quarters. St. Mary’s College did get off a shot in the final stanza but couldn’t convert on their only chance.

- As mentioned, the Seahawks were held to one shot on the afternoon. Meghan Ronan notched the lone Seahawk goal and managed to put it on goal. In cage, Kelbey Egerland collected nine saves, which was her second-highest total this season. The Seahawks earned two penalty corners compared to Salisbury’s 18.
