Prince Frederick, MD – I love letting you know about places serving great food that is fresh and locally-sourced. This week I want to let you know about Dream Weaver Café and Catering in Prince Frederick. I went for breakfast on Sunday and lunch on Monday…it was great! The brainchild of owner Trish Weaver, the hard work is evident in the wonderful food they serve and the outstanding customer service (everyone is so nice).
Trish has a large, faithful group of regular diners. They started with her when she was co-owner of Mom’s in the Kitchen eatery (for twenty years) and have been with her for the past ten years at Dream Weaver. She said when the regulars show up it’s, “like being at Cheers”.
Located in a strip shopping center on Solomons Island Road, the inside is a delightful mix of eclectic, shabby chic decorations. From the hutch with mismatched mugs to the walls adorned with artwork for sale from local artists. It’s cozy and comfortable! They also have a small private dining room for intimate events (birthday parties, business meetings, retirements, church groups, etc.).
Bottom line, the food is fantastic! For breakfast, I had Creamed Chipped Beef, served with Home Fries. My friend had Mushroom and Sausage Quiche with Fresh Fruit. The cream sauce for the Chipped Beef was so tasty and the perfect consistency. The home fries were browned just enough to have a nice crisp, and they were cooked with onions…just the way I like them! The Quiche was thick and flavorful, and the fruit cup was a nice mix of fresh-cut fruit. We ate in the dining room. Although ordering is done at the counter, they serve the food to your table, when it’s ready.
On Monday, I stopped in to get carryout for lunch. I had Ham and Cheese Quiche with Fresh Fruit and a Garden Salad with house dressing (Mango/Pineapple). My friend had the Parisienne Sandwich (Grilled Chicken, Provolone, Tomato, Herb Mayo, on Baguette) with Mac & Cheese. Everything was delicious! The quiche and sandwich were both delightful. The salad dressing was amazing and the fruit so fresh. My friend said the Mac & Cheese was spectacular.
The Café offers daily and weekly specials that sound amazing! This week’s specials include Lobster Pot Pie, Shrimp Jambalaya with Andouille and Chicken, Grilled Cuban Sandwich, and Beef or Veggie Lasagna. Yum…how to decide? Keep up-to-date by following their Facebook page.
If you are looking to finish your tasty meal with dessert…you are in luck! They have a beautiful selection of delectable desserts made in-house by their baker, Olga.
In the winter they do something very special…Sunday Supper Social. According to their flyer…A neighborhood open house/dinner to enjoy comfort food and good company during the short, chilly days of winter. You can reserve a seat at 410-535-4355. The buffet dinner is from 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm. The cost is $12.50 for adults and $7.00 for children 10 and under.
The next two Sunday Supper Socials are:
- February 16 – Beef Chili, Vegetarian Chili, Garden Salad, Corn Bread, flavored butters, Brownies with Ice Cream.
- March 1 – Southern Fried Chicken, Dreamy Mac & Cheese, Garden Salad, Roasted Vegetable Medley, Bread, Apple Crisp
Another thing Trish does extremely well is catering. She started full-service catering back in the “Mom’s in the Kitchen” days. According to their literature…
“Weddings, Receptions, Corporate Events, Picnics, Conferences, Luncheons, Breakfast Meetings, Box Lunches; no event is too big or too small. Catering to the Southern Maryland, Annapolis and DC Metro Area, it is our intent to provide our customers the freshest food products of the season, utilizing local resources whenever possible.”
“The Staff at Dream Weaver is committed to creating the best of memories for your event with great food, superb service, and attention to detail. From the small and casual to the grand and formal, the Dream Team is here to serve you! Whether you need comfort food with a Mom’s touch straight from our kitchen to yours, or an elegant, choreographed event, we can help!”
Trish told me they cater 50-60 weddings a year! In addition to the events listed above, they also cater reunions, showers, crab feasts, and birthday parties. She told me she, “loves doing family events”. Look at the pictures of some of the events they have catered, absolutely stunning!
