Mechanicsville, MD – If you are looking for a fun, relaxing place to have a drink, shoot pool, sing karaoke, throw darts, toss bean bags and enjoy good bar food…go to Big Dogs Paradise in Mechanicsville!

I’ve driven by Big Dogs Paradise many times over the years and always thought I should stop in to check it out. I’m so glad I did! Owner Brian Adkins is delightful! His desire to create an inviting atmosphere is evident. The people working for Brian are wonderful too. The few times I’ve been, Mom (Vickie) has been behind the bar; she made me a great frozen daiquiri. Brian’s fiancée (Monica) is the manager, and his two daughters help too. I love family businesses!

When you enter Big Dogs Paradise, you will find a light, bright, comfortable atmosphere. There are several Diamond pools tables, which are kept busy, especially during league play. There are dart boards, a bowling machine, and (when the weather is better) a cornhole complex outback. Check out their various leagues! For smokers, they have a smoking area that is heated and enclosed, so you can take your drink out with you. When they don’t have a D.J., they have an Internet jukebox and seven televisions (offering sports daily). Brian is very serious about having a lot to offer at Big Dogs Paradise and making it a great place!

Brian has stepped up the food too! He has created a menu of tasty bar food. I had Bone-in Teriyaki Wings and Frickle Fries (just like french fries, but instead are pickles!)). The wings were tasty! They were meaty with a delicious sauce. The Frickle Fries were wonderful! Brian said his best-sellers are tenders, loaded fries and tots, wings, mozzarella sticks, and Bang Bang Shrimp. They offer daily food specials, check them out on Facebook. The kitchen hours are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday 10:00 am – 10:00 pm, and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 10:00 am – 12:00 am. Which means…you can get food almost any time!!

Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am – 6:00pm…there are excellent beer and drink specials. In fact, the bar is great! The bartenders are friendly and mix up terrific drinks! Some of the bar specials include:

  • Monday – $3.00 Margaritas (non-frozen or frozen)
  • Tuesday – Draft Beer Night
  • Wednesday – Karaoke Night with D.J. – lots of drink specials
  • Thursday – D.J. Night – $15 Bottomless Cup Ladies Night
  • Friday and Saturday – D.J. Night – $25 Bottomless Cup Special
  • ** Thursday, Friday and Saturday – Shot and Bomb Specials

Big Dogs Paradise also has an adjoining liquor store. They have a nice selection of beer, wine, and liquor. Their prices are some of the best around. I’m thrilled because they have my favorite…Skrewball…a peanut butter whiskey. I like to drink Skrewball on the rocks, but it can be used to make amazing cocktails!

Brian told me, “I want people to come in and check it out”. He wants people to enjoy his food and have fun. I’m looking forward to hanging out at Big Dogs Paradise again soon!!
