With our ongoing stay-at-home order and social distancing, I am now on week four of Restaurant Revisits. I am checking in with two more of my favorite restaurants from my articles over the last year. I am providing links to the original articles, and letting you know their current status. In addition, I am giving links to my recent articles with by-county spreadsheets of open (for carryout, curbside, and/or delivery) restaurants.

Enso Kitchen

47414 Old State House Road

St. Mary’s City, MD

If you want the most amazing bread, biscuits, donuts, and other baked goods…you need to make a trip to Enso Kitchen in historic St. Mary’s City. Owner Rubing Yen is a master baker!

Everything is delicious! I think I have had every item on the menu…at least once. The bread is flavorful with a beautiful crust. The biscuits are so flaky, and the donuts are amazing! According to a recent Facebook post… “Our sandwich-style sliced bread is almost twice as big as the big-store-bought bread and is sooo much tastier and sooo much better for you. These loaves all get an overnight, cold fermentation which improves flavor and texture and are then baked fresh every day. They also freeze beautifully – just take a slice out, pop it in the toaster, and you are good to go.”

The pandemic has changed how business is accomplished. All ordering is only done online for next day pick-up. The ordering time window opens at 9:00am and closes at 6:00pm from Sunday to Thursday. Your order will be available for pick-up at the bakery any time between 9:00am and 12:00noon. The bakery is small, and quantities are limited. A confirmation email will be sent once an order has been placed. Place your order for next day pick-up at

Check the Enso Kitchen Facebook page and website for additional information.

Enso Kitchen is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 12:00pm for pre-ordered pick-up only.

Chicken Rico

3310 Crain Highway

Waldorf, MD

If you are in Waldorf and want tender, delicious Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken, stop by Chicken Rico! The chicken is marinated using a 50-year old family recipe and cooked over a charcoal fire. Located in the Waldorf Shoppers World shopping center, they offer traditional Peruvian dishes, along with sandwiches and salads.

When I go, I always get the same thing (I know, I am boring) …1/2 chicken, green beans, and plantains. It is so good! And the plantains are amazing!

Chicken Rico hours are 11:00am to 9:00pm every day.
