Calvert Country School Teacher of the Year: Candice Sison
Before joining the teaching staff at Calvert Country School, Ms. Candice Sison served as an instructional assistant at both Patuxent Appeal Campus and Calvert Country. Ms. Sison is a lifelong resident of Calvert County and was part of the first graduating class of Patuxent High School. Ms. Sison is a dedicated teacher who focuses on students’ individual needs. She works closely with school staff and parents to ensure her students gain the skills they need to transition to a comprehensive school.
Ms. Sison is an enthusiastic educator, and her attitude is contagious among her colleagues. You often can find her huddled with teachers and staff collaborating to develop plans for individual students. The staff uses the following words to describe her: engaging, interactive, creative, dedicated, inspiring, and innovative. Ms. Sison serves as Equity Team lead and our Schoology trainer. She is an asset to the students, community, and staff at Calvert Country School, and we are honored to have Ms. Candice Sison as the nominee for Teacher of the Year.
Calvert Country School Educational Support Person of the Year: Christine Haug
From Principal Marcie Hough: The Calvert Country School Educational Support Person of the Year is Christine Haug. Ms. Haug is an instructional assistant in our Behavior Development Program. Ms. Haug comes to work each day focused on assisting students academically and behaviorally. She sets high expectations for all students and encourages students to take risks outside their comfort zones. Ms. Haug has a positive attitude and is willing to help in every situation. Her colleagues describe her as a hard worker, team player, student advocate, dedicated, and extremely competent. Ms. Haug goes above and beyond each day. She has a wonderful relationship with staff and students and always has a smile on her face. Her organization and experience are an asset to Calvert Country School. Calvert Country is honored to have Christine Haug as Educational Support Person of the Year.
