LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Commissioners received their semiannual St. Mary’s County Library brief Tuesday, Aug. 25, from Director Michael Blackwell. Director Blackwell provided an operational update on county library facilities, which have recently reopened following lengthy COVID-19 closures. He also gave the Commissioners a virtual tour of the new Leonardtown Library. Construction of the library was a Commissioner approved Capital Improvement Project and had been scheduled to open to the public in April, but pandemic related precautions kept it closed until mid-August with limited operations.
During the presentation, Director Blackwell also showcased new and improve library products and services, including an electric vehicle charging station and a library e-reader app. Lastly, the Commissioners heard an update on plans for the gradual restoration of services impacted by COVID-19.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County is Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020. Commissioner agendas can be found on the county website each Friday before the Commissioner Meeting.
Commissioner Meetings may be viewed live Tuesday mornings on SMCG Channel 95 or as a replay Friday nights at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are also available for on-demand viewing on the St. Mary’s County Government YouTube Channel.
