Puppy Paws Rescue (PPR) is a foster-based rescue with its base in Calvert county and foster homes in various counties in Maryland. The rescue was established in 2013 after the founders adopted their very first dog from the Calvert Animal Welfare League and then “interned” with other local rescues to learn what needed to be done to establish a rescue.
PPR finds homes for approximately 250 dogs and puppies each year. A dedicated volunteer team transports via road and air, collaborates with veterinarians local and afar, nurtures and trains in foster homes, reviews applications do interviews and home visits (now mostly virtual).
The rescue currently only has a few pups listed on their webpage at www.puppypawsrescue.org, but more will be listed soon. In a few weeks, our momma Spirit and her five beautiful pups will be posted and find their furever homes after turning 8 weeks old. On 11/11/2022 our new momma Molly gave birth to the “cheaper by the Dozen” litter. Yes, there were 12.
One of our pups in need is Clemmy. She is a dog that was used for breeding and arrived emaciated. She had 8 beautiful babies that found their home quickly. Clemmy weighed in at 25 lbs when first pulled, but is now weighing in at 50 lbs. This girl needs an owner who does not have other pets or small children. She is housetrained, loving with people, and just a snuggle bug. but with other dogs it gets tricky, and she should be the one to get all the attention.
