UPDATE: At approximately 8 am this morning, Calvert County Rescue Dive Team – Co 12 was dispatched to the base of the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge for the report of a subject in the water after jumping from the bridge. Multiple companies and agencies respond including US Coast Guard, Maryland Natural Resources Police, Calvert County Sheriff department, Maryland State Police, and volunteer rescue companies from Solomons, Prince Frederick, and North Beach.
Trooper 7 from St Mary’s airport arrived overhead and began a search over the river while smaller vessels began a surface search of the immediate area. Calvert County Rescue Dive Team – Co 12 team began setting up their side-scan sonar equipment and prepared to embark on either Boat 1 or Boat 4 to begin a broad underwater search.

As they preparing to load, Trooper 7 located the possible subject on the surface near the Naval Air Station, and boat crews arrived quickly, recovered the subject, and brought them to the pier with compressions in progress, where they were loaded into a waiting ambulance and taken to an area hospital.

UPDATE 8:45 a.m.: The Bridge has now been reopened. Further information will be released when released by officials.
Solomons, MD- Authorities are on the scene at the Thomas Johnson Bridge for a reported subject jumping into the water. The Calvert County Police have closed the bridge until further notice.
