COLLEGEVILLE, PA– The Seahawks put up an incredible showing at today’s meet to secure the program’s first, first-place finish in their inaugural season. St. Mary’s tied for first place with ten points alongside host school, Ursinus College. Swarthmore came in third place with eight points. St. Mary’s earned ten top-ten finishes across the meet while Alex Behzadi secured a first-place finish in the Men’s Indoor Pentathlon to help lead the Seahawks to victory.
How it Happened
- Emmanuel Douge broke two of his own records at today’s meet. Douge ran alongside teammate Alex Gouin in the 60m Dash where Gouin finished in 23rd place at 7.86. Douge earned an 11th place finish in the event with a time of 7.53 seconds; beating his previous record by one second. Douge then went on to compete in the 200m Dash where he secured a phenomenal fifth place finish of 40 competitors and a new record of 23.97 seconds.
- Zane Obi and Christian Oliverio represented the Seahawks in the 400m Dash. Oliverio broke his previous record by just over a second to set the new record at 55.79 seconds. Obi earned a 32nd place finish for the Seahawks at a time of 1:03.15.
- William Christophel, Nate Norris and Quentin Pastore competed in the 800m Run where Christophel beat his previous record by three seconds, setting the new record at 2:02.99 today. Christophel brought home an eighth place finish of 42 competitors. Norris would cross the finish line next for the Seahawks, coming in at 2:14.10 in 30th place. Pastore finished just .86 of a second behind teammate Norris, for a time of 2:14.96 and secured 32nd place.
- Patton Harbourt participated in the 3000m run today where he came in 18th place. Harbourt beat his personal best in the event by roughly four seconds with today’s finish. His new PR sits at 11:21.74.
- Tyler Wilson and Caleb Shankle lined up for the 5000m run for St. Mary’s today. Wilson earned a 20th place finish at a time of 17.23.68. Shankle crossed the finish line just over a minute and a half later at 18:54.57 in 22nd place.
- Alex Behzadi had a memorable day at the Invitational. Behzadi competed in the Men’s Indoor Pentathlon for the first time today and earned first place. The Pentathlon consists of five events: the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 1000m run. Behzadi came in first for the 60m hurdles at a time of 10.18 seconds. Behzadi went on to secure a second place finish in the high jump, long jump, and 1000m run. In the process of winning this event, Alex Behzadi broke the college record in the 1000m run with a time of 3:08.00, beating the previous record by 20 seconds. Behzadi won the pentathlon with a mark of 2450. Bastiann Phour from Swarthmore came in second place with a mark of 2414. Third place was taken by Muheer Mardirosyan from Ursinus with a mark of 1922.
- Emmanuel Douge’s final event for the day would be the long jump. Douge earned a sixth place finish at a distance of 5.46 meters.
- Seahawks Ethan Carpenter, Chamarr Auber and Marion Lajara took part in the shot put for the Seahawks at the Invitational. Carpenter put up a stellar performance in the event, placing second of the 26 competitors, throwing a distance of 13.66 meters and breaking his previous record of 12.29m. Marion Lajara threw a distance of 10.20 meters to take 16th place while teammate Chamarr Auber brought home 18th with a throw of 9.02m.
- Ethan Carpenter clinched another second place finish at the meet during the weight throw with a distance of 15.20m. Chamarr Auber also competed in the weight throw for the Seahawks where he made a distance of 9.57m to earn 16th place of the 21 competitors.

The Seahawks move on to compete in the Coast to Coast Championships on February 18th and 19th. The Championships will be hosted in Newport News, Virginia.
