ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Senior attackman Jude Brown (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll), an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, found the back of the net five times on a snowy Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania, and along the way, Brown tallied his 150th career point. St. Mary’s College improves to 2-0 on the season following its come-from-behind 9-8 non-conference win over Elizabethtown College (0-1).

How It Happened

  • Elizabethtown struck first but the Seahawks responded just over a minute later when senior captain Abe Hubbard (Owings, Md./Northern) finished off a pass from junior midfielder PJ Fenchak (Lutherville, Md./Towson) to knot the game at 1-1 with 13:11 left in the first period.
  • The Blue Jays then rattled three straight in the final 8:34 to head into the second quarter with a 4-1 advantage. Riley Langen had a goal and two assists to lead Etown in its 3-0 run.
  • The second frame belonged to St. Mary’s College as Brown scored twice and senior Jack Brocato (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul’s) added another for the game’s second tied score (4-4) at halftime.
  • Hubbard tallied a man-up goal to start the third stanza and give the Seahawks their first lead of the game at 11:08. The visitors’ lead lasted 50 seconds before Elizabethtown strung together another 3-0 run to reclaim a 7-5 advantage with 3:30 to go in the quarter.
  • Brown completed the hat trick with the final score of the third to pull St. Mary’s College within one (7-6) with the fourth quarter around the corner.
  • The fourth began as the third ended with Brown scoring a pair of consecutive to put the Seahawks back in the driver’s seat, 8-7, with 8:21 remaining in regulation.
  • Senior midfielder Noah Kellner (Lutherville, Md./Archbishop Curley) tallied the eventual go-ahead goal at 7:30 with his first man-up goal of the season for a two-goal Seahawk lead.
  • Elizabethtown got one back with 5:24 to go when Micah Ballew scored his first of the season, but its offense stalled with three turnovers and three off-target shots to end the game.
