LATHAM, N.Y. – Senior Jake Wills (Frederick, Md./Urbana) was named the United East Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending February 20 as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Wills manned the mound for 7.0 innings against SUNY New Paltz this past Sunday, helping the St. Mary’s College of Maryland baseball team claim an 8-5 victory to improve to 2-0 on the young season. The 6-0 southpaw punched out a career-high seven batters and only allowed a trio of hits from New Paltz. En route to the win, Wills only allowed one unearned run.
St. Mary’s College (2-0) will be back in action on Sunday, February 27, when the Seahawks travel to Wye Mills, Md., to take on Chesapeake College in a doubleheader starting at 11:00 a.m.
