Smoker’s Delight is one of my favorite places to go for great barbeque. Brian Israel and Keisha (his partner/fiancée) have recently taken their food truck business and expanded into a storefront in White Plains.
I stopped in recently to see the new space (and get some great food). Primarily a carryout, there are a few stools and a counter for those who can’t wait to taste the goodness. Brian gave me a tour of his kitchen, which has shiny, new kitchen equipment. He was able to put everything right where he needs it. Of note, I took a picture of his walk-in freezer, and it is empty. It’s empty because he doesn’t use anything frozen. All his meats, fish, and sides are fresh.
I met Brian many years ago when he had his food truck set up in a church parking lot on Washington Street in LaPlata. He grew his business by setting up twice a week at the LaPlata Farmer’s Market and on other days, by the mall in Waldorf. Brian is one of the local entrepreneurs who has always impressed me. He works hard and has grown his business. I am so happy to see they are doing well in their new space.
In keeping with his traditional meat preparation, he still uses his mobile smoker (in the parking lot in White Plains). He finishes off the meats and prepares the sides inside.
I love everything they make! My favorites are the Smoked Ribs, Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Baked Beans, Yams, Bang Bang Shrimp, and Banana Pudding. All the meats are seasoned and cooked perfectly. They are tender and flavorful. The Bang Bang Shrimp is amazing! I always get the Baked Beans and Yams. The desserts are delicious. I bought three Banana Puddings, but only two made it home!
They are booking spring and summer catering now. The summer schedule for the food truck should be out soon. Call for more information.
