Waldorf, MD – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have announced the signing of four new players to their roster, enhancing the team’s composition with both offensive and pitching talents as they prepare for the 2024 season. The new additions include outfielders Chase Vinson, Khalil Wilson, Garrett Martin, and left-handed pitcher Trevor McGee, each bringing a unique set of skills and experiences to the team.

Chase Vinson, a 24-year-old outfielder, steps into his professional debut with a solid background from Morehead State and extensive experience in the Prospect League. Over two seasons at Morehead State (2022 and 2023), Vinson made a significant impact with 23 home runs and 82 RBIs. The Oakwood, Illinois native, primarily a right fielder, played in all 56 games in 2023, showcasing his consistency and skill. His time with the Danville Dans in the Prospect League further highlighted his abilities, where he achieved 106 hits in 106 games, along with 11 home runs and 86 RBIs, boasting a batting average of .268.
Khalil Wilson, also 24, is a left-handed outfielder and pitcher from Acworth, Georgia, who has shown versatility and speed in his play. Wilson spent multiple seasons in the Sunbelt Baseball League and played for the Antelope Valley Pioneers in Lancaster, California, during his last active season in 2022. Known for his speed, Wilson secured seven steals and scored 16 runs in 21 games without being caught stealing. Transitioning from a hitting coach role back to playing, Wilson is set to start his professional career with the Blue Crabs.
Garrett Martin, a towering right-handed outfielder from Gypsum, Colorado, joins the Blue Crabs with a record of success from his time with the WestSide Woolly Mammoths and collegiate play. The 6-foot-3 player holds a promising 6-2 record from his last season and has accumulated 346 strikeouts in over 280 innings throughout five collegiate seasons. Martin, who played at Marian College and Middle Georgia Knights, brings a track record of consistency and reliability to the mound with a career ERA of 3.16.
Trevor McGee, a 24-year-old left-handed pitcher, enters his second professional season with a diverse background, having played as both a starter and reliever for the Clarion Golden Eagles in college, and more recently in the Pioneer League and winter ball for the Washington Blue Sox. McGee’s performance in winter ball, boasting a 3-1 record with a 1.57 ERA in 26.2 innings, underlines his potential as a significant asset to the Blue Crabs’ pitching staff.
With these signings, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs now have a total of 19 players contracted for the upcoming 2024 campaign, signaling a strong start as they aim for success in the season ahead.
