Scheduled for March 28, the investiture ceremony will mark the formal installation of Dr. Wilson, with the event set to take place at the La Plata Campus’ Physical Education Center. Expected to start promptly at 10 a.m., the ceremony will feature academic regalia, speeches from the CSM Board of Trustees, elected officials, student representatives, and a keynote address by President Wilson herself. The event is open to the public, although registration by March 19 is required to attend.

The inauguration week is not just about the formalities of installing a new president. It represents a broader commitment to fostering a unified and inclusive academic community. By hosting a range of events leading up to the ceremony, CSM showcases its dedication to the principles Dr. Wilson stands for.

On March 28, to facilitate community participation in the inauguration events, CSM will implement a delayed opening across all campuses until 2 p.m. This adjustment ensures that faculty, staff, and students have the opportunity to partake in the day’s celebrations. Although physical locations will be closed, online classes will proceed as planned, and virtual instruction options will be made available.

For those unable to attend the festivities in person but still wishing to support the CSM community, the college encourages contributions to the “Help A Hawk” Fund. This initiative provides financial aid to students facing unexpected hardships, ensuring they can continue their academic pursuits. Donations to the fund can be made through a designated online platform.

Dr. Yolanda Wilson’s presidency heralds a new chapter for the College of Southern Maryland. With a focus on collective progress and inclusivity, the upcoming inauguration events are a testament to the institution’s commitment to excellence and community engagement.
