LATHAM, N.Y. — Boris Palmade, a sophomore from Bethesda, Maryland, attending Walt Whitman High School, has been named the United East Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, as revealed by the conference’s office on Tuesday, March 19.
This accolade comes in recognition of Palmade’s significant contributions to St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s tennis team’s first victory of the season, achieved during their participation in the PTR Spring Tennis Fest held in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Palmade’s performance was stellar, particularly at the No. 1 singles position where he secured a 6-2, 6-2 win against Alexander Hadler. Although Palmade faced a setback in an 8-4 loss at No. 1 doubles alongside his partner Nick Rohr against Cornell College on March 11, this did not deter his spirit. The duo made a strong comeback by clinching an 8-6 victory over James Smith and Jackson Meyer in the No. 1 doubles. Moreover, Palmade demonstrated his prowess once again by recording a 6-2, 7-5 win over Smith in the No. 1 singles, contributing to a narrow 5-4 win against Maryville College on March 13.
With a current season record of 1-3, St. Mary’s College is looking forward to improving their standings, starting with their home-opening match against Marymount (Va.) University. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, at 3:30 PM at the Somerset Tennis Courts, where the team, boosted by Palmade’s recent achievements, hopes to continue their winning momentum.
