BOWIE, M.D. — The Bowie Baysox showcased a powerful display of hitting in their series opener against the Altoona Curve, cruising to a 10-4 victory on Tuesday night at Prince George’s Stadium. The win was punctuated by a series of home runs and solid pitching, delighting the home crowd.

Dylan Beavers set the tone early for Bowie by hitting his first homer of the season in the first inning, pushing the Baysox ahead by one. Beavers, the Orioles’ No. 7 prospect, extended his on-base streak to eight games with the hit.

The momentum continued in the third inning as Frederick Bencosme drilled a two-run triple followed by TT Bowens’ RBI single, extending Bowie’s lead to 4-0. Kyle Bradish, the Orioles’ right-hander on a rehab assignment, bolstered the team’s performance with three shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four.

Despite Altoona narrowing the gap with a run in the fourth and fifth innings and eventually tying the game at 4-4 in the seventh inning on Tsung-Che Cheng’s two-run homer, Bowie quickly regained control. In the bottom of the seventh, Samuel Basallo and Bowens both delivered home runs, with Basallo notching his first at the Double-A level and Bowens adding a two-run shot to secure a 9-4 lead.

Bowie’s offense was supported by stellar relief pitching from Trey McGough, who pitched two perfect innings to close the game, securing the victory for the Baysox.

The teams are set to continue their six-game series with a morning game scheduled for 11:05 a.m. tomorrow. Seth Johnson, with an ERA of 9.00, will take the mound for Bowie against an as-yet-undetermined pitcher for Altoona.
