Charles County’s Economic Development Department (EDD) is gearing up to host its annual Business Appreciation Week from May 6 to 10, 2024, marking the third year of celebrations dedicated to recognizing the critical role local businesses play in sustaining the regional economy.

The week-long event, which has become a cornerstone for acknowledging the efforts of local entrepreneurs and companies, will feature a series of activities aimed at bolstering business growth and fostering community ties. From ribbon-cutting ceremonies and informative webinars to networking mixers and proactive business visits, the initiative is designed to celebrate and support the business community’s contributions to Charles County’s vibrancy and economic health.

“2024 marks the third year of Charles County’s Business Appreciation Week,” stated Kelly Robertson-Slagle, Director of Economic Development. She emphasized the collective effort of residents, businesses, and various organizations in nurturing a dynamic business environment conducive to growth and community enhancement.

The series of events kicks off with the Money Maryland regional expo on May 6. This initiative, a collaboration between the Economic Development Department and Will Holmes Consulting, aims to connect business owners with vital local and state resources to expand their operations.

Following the expo, May 7 will see the issuance of a Business Appreciation Week Proclamation by the Charles County Board of County Commissioners. The day will also include a Circle of Services Webinar, focusing on local resources available to entrepreneurs, and a luncheon for alumni of the Business Growth Advantage Program (BGAP).

Throughout the week, EDD officials, alongside community leaders and elected officials, will conduct visits to various local businesses, offering support and recognition. The initiative culminates on May 10 with a Business Networking Mixer, which will provide an opportunity for businesses recognized during the week to engage further and build lasting connections.

Anne Hooper, Chair of the Charles County Economic Development Advisory Board, praised the EDD’s ongoing efforts to innovate and support the local business landscape. “Business Appreciation Week will positively impact economic growth, development, and Charles County’s businesses and residents,” she noted.

As Business Appreciation Week approaches, local businesses and community members are encouraged to participate and learn more about the scheduled events, celebrating the remarkable endeavors of those who provide essential jobs, products, and services to the community.
