BOWIE, MD — The Bowie Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, secured a convincing 5-1 victory over the Erie SeaWolves on Friday evening at Prince George’s Stadium. The win marked Bowie’s fourth in their last five games and solidified their dominance at home with a record of 10-3 this season.

The game commenced with the Erie SeaWolves taking an early lead. Gage Workman of Erie scored the first run in the opening inning on a wild pitch by Bowie’s starting pitcher, Brandon Young. However, Bowie quickly countered in the third inning with Jud Fabian, the Orioles’ No. 12 prospect, hitting a solo home run to left field, tying the game at 1-1.

Brandon Young ended his stint on the mound with 2.1 innings pitched, conceding one run on three hits. He also managed three strikeouts and a walk. Kade Strowd relieved Young, successfully closing the third inning without further damage.

The pivotal moment came in the fourth inning when Samuel Basallo, another prominent Orioles prospect, blasted a three-run homer off Erie’s starting pitcher, Austin Bergner. This 392-foot home run not only broke the tie but gave Bowie a significant lead. Basallo’s performance has been notable, with nine RBIs in his last four games, including three in each of his last three appearances.

Bowie’s pitching was particularly strong in the latter half of the game. Kyle Brnovich, who took over in relief, pitched four shutout innings, striking out eight and walking three. His efforts earned him the win, improving his season record to 1-1. Brnovich’s performance at home has been impressive, maintaining a 0.93 ERA over 9.2 innings without issuing a walk at Prince George’s Stadium this season.

Nick Richmond closed the game for Bowie, providing two innings of scoreless relief and securing the win with a final strikeout.

Looking ahead, the Baysox will continue their series against the SeaWolves on Saturday at 6:35 PM. Seth Johnson, with a current record of 0-2 and a 4.38 ERA, is slated to start for Bowie, facing off against Erie’s Troy Melton, who also holds a record of 0-2 and an ERA of 3.94.
