WALDORF, MD — A tragic car accident on St. Charles Parkway in Waldorf resulted in the death of a Baltimore man late Saturday night. Authorities are investigating the single-vehicle collision that occurred near St. Ignatius Drive at approximately 11:34 p.m.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported that their officers were called to the scene where they found a Chevrolet Impala had veered off the roadway and collided with a tree. The Traffic Operations Unit took over the investigation shortly after their arrival.

The initial findings suggest that the Impala, for reasons yet unknown, left the road leading to the catastrophic crash. Daunte Marqui Butler, 26, was in the passenger seat at the time of the incident. He was rushed to Charles Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. The driver, whose name has not been released, survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. Cpl. D. Spence of the Traffic Operations Unit is handling inquiries, which can be directed to 301-932-3514.
