LATHAM, N.Y. — Allie Greeley, a first-year standout from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, has been named the United East Conference Rookie of the Year. This announcement was part of the league’s unveiling of the 2024 All-United East First and Second Teams this Wednesday.
Greeley, a goalie from Havre de Grace, Maryland, follows Katelin Scala, last year’s recipient from the same team, marking back-to-back wins for St. Mary’s in this category. This season, Greeley played 744 minutes across 17 games, starting 16 and logging an 11-5 record with a goals-against average of 8.88—placing her 35th in Division III.

The league’s honors extended beyond Greeley, as seven Seahawks earned spots on the All-United East teams. Senior captain Rachael Freeman and junior Hailey Betch were named to the First Team. Meanwhile, seniors Bella Dunigan and MC Mortimer, sophomore Katelin Scala, and first-year Claire Boudreau received Second Team honors.
Betch, a third-time First Team honoree and the 2023 United East Offensive Player of the Year, continued her dominance on the field. She led the conference with 65 goals and 91 points. Her performance this season also includes notable milestones such as her 200th career point and 100th goal.
Freeman, a vital part of St. Mary’s defense, finishes her collegiate career as a three-time First Team selection and the 2023 United East Defensive Player of the Year. She significantly contributed to the team’s defense, which allowed only nine goals in four conference games this year.
Scala and Mortimer also repeated their inclusion on the All-United East teams. Scala tied for third in the league with 56 draw controls, and Mortimer is now a two-time honoree, ranking fifth in the conference with 20 assists.
Newcomer Boudreau made a noticeable impact, being effective in both midfield and defensive plays, with 39 draw controls and 20 caused turnovers this season. She also scored her first collegiate goal in April.
St. Mary’s College secured its 11th bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament after winning its third consecutive United East Conference tournament championship. The Seahawks are set to face Grove City College in the first round on May 11 at Franklin & Marshall College.
