Junior Hailey Betch from Severna Park, Maryland, representing the St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s lacrosse team, has been named to the 2024 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Metro Region teams. Betch, now a two-time all-region selection, secured a spot on the Second Team for the second consecutive year. Her impressive performance this season also earned her a third straight First Team All-United East Conference award on May 8.

Standing tall at 6 feet, Betch was one of 256 Division III women’s lacrosse players honored by the IWLCA with a selection to one of the eight All-Region Teams. This honor makes her eligible for the IWLCA All-America team, which will be announced on May 24.
This season, Betch achieved several milestones, underscoring her pivotal role in the team. She was named United East Offensive Player of the Week twice, reflecting her consistent high-level play. On March 30, she reached her 200th career point and 200th career draw control during a five-point, five-draw control performance against Cedar Crest College. Earlier in the season, on February 17, she scored her 100th career goal with a three-goal effort against Roanoke College.
Betch’s remarkable achievements continued as she recorded her 100th point of the season with a two-goal effort against Franklin & Marshall College on May 12, during the second round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament.
In terms of national rankings, Betch stands out in several categories. She is 21st in Division III with a conference- and team-best 74 goals and ranks 25th with a league- and team-best 100 points. Additionally, she is 50th in the nation with a conference third-best 3.89 goals per game and 52nd with a league second-best 5.26 points per game. She is also tied for third in the conference with a team second-best 26 assists.
Betch’s contributions extend beyond scoring. She has added 29 draw controls, 13 ground balls, and eight caused turnovers to her season’s statistics.
St. Mary’s College of Maryland finished the 2024 season with a 12-7 overall record, including a perfect 4-0 in the United East Conference. The team celebrated their third consecutive regular-season and tournament championships in the United East Conference. Their success earned them their third straight and 11th overall berth in the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament, where they were ultimately defeated in the second round by No. 3 Franklin & Marshall.
