Binghamton, NY — The Bowie Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, had their four-game winning streak halted by the Binghamton Rumble Ponies with a 5-3 defeat on Sunday afternoon at Mirabito Stadium. Despite Bowie’s efforts to come back twice, a late two-run homer by Jaylen Palmer sealed their fate.

Bowie (21-17) faced an early deficit, falling behind 2-0 in the first inning due to a combination of hits, an error, and a passed ball. The Baysox managed to even the score in the third inning when Max Wagner drew an 11-pitch walk with two outs. Jud Fabian followed with a crucial two-run double into left-center, chasing Binghamton starter Joander Suarez after just 2.2 innings.

However, the Rumble Ponies quickly responded with a solo home run by Kevin Parada off Bowie’s right-handed starter Ryan Long, who lasted three innings. Cameron Weston, a right-hander, took over for Long and delivered an impressive performance, striking out five and keeping Binghamton scoreless through his first four innings out of the bullpen.

Dylan Beavers reignited Bowie’s offense in the fifth inning, tying the game again with his fifth home run of the season, a solo shot to right field as part of his three-hit game. The Baysox seemed poised to take the lead in the seventh inning after drawing three walks to load the bases, but consecutive strikeouts by Binghamton pitchers ended the threat.

In the eighth inning, with the game still tied, Weston (L, 1-1) exited after allowing a runner on first with two outs. Nick Richmond took the mound but quickly surrendered a decisive two-run homer to Palmer, giving Binghamton the lead. Bowie attempted a rally in the ninth inning, placing two runners on base, but ultimately fell short.

The loss concluded Bowie’s season-high four-game winning streak, although the Baysox did secure their first road series win of the season by taking four out of six games against Binghamton.

Bowie now returns home to face the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, in a six-game series starting Tuesday at 6:05 pm.
