
Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division have successfully identified and arrested a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a home improvement store in Waldorf. The incident occurred on February 22, when a male suspect and a female accomplice entered the store located on Jefferson Place.
According to police reports, the female suspect paid for her items at the cashier, while the male suspect concealed merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying. When approached by a loss prevention officer, the male suspect displayed a handgun, creating a threatening situation. The suspect then fled the scene in a car with the female accomplice.
Through diligent investigative work, detectives were able to identify the male suspect as DeShawn Grant, 35, who has no fixed address. An arrest warrant was obtained for Grant, and he was subsequently located and apprehended. A search warrant executed at the location where Grant was staying resulted in the recovery of critical evidence related to the crime.
Grant has been charged with multiple offenses, including armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and other related charges. He is currently being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.
