MARY’S COUNTY, Md. – Danielle Lynette Washington, a 37-year-old resident of Lexington Park, has been arrested and charged with multiple drug-related offenses, including possession with intent to distribute narcotics. The arrest followed a traffic stop on Great Mills Road on May 16, 2024, during which deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office discovered a substantial quantity of suspected illegal drugs in her vehicle.
Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Discovery
The incident began as part of routine proactive traffic enforcement by deputies from the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions. Washington’s vehicle, a Chevrolet Uplander, was pulled over due to suspected illegal window tint. During the stop, a K9 unit conducted a free air scan around the vehicle, which alerted deputies to the potential presence of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) inside.
Subsequent Search Uncovers Drugs and Cash
Upon receiving the alert from the K9 unit, deputies proceeded to search the minivan. Inside, they found multiple tied-off plastic bags and a significant amount of cash. The bags were determined to contain suspected oxycodone hydrochloride pills, cocaine, and crack cocaine.
Arrest and Pending Legal Proceedings
Following the discovery, Washington was arrested on-site. She faces charges including CDS: Possession With Intent to Distribute Narcotics, CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute, and two counts of CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis. She was then transported to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where she is awaiting a bond hearing.
