GREAT MILLS, Md. – Little Flower School will inaugurate its new Early Learning Center with an open house event on June 28 from noon to 2 p.m. This center is the first and only Catholic school in St. Mary’s County to provide early education for two-year-old children.

Scheduled to open on July 15, the Early Learning Center will implement the Funshine Express curriculum, which has been approved by the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care. The classroom will have a maximum capacity of 12 children, ensuring that each child receives personalized attention and care from the two dedicated teachers. The curriculum includes a variety of activities such as circle time, small group learning centers, whole class instruction, indoor and outdoor play, and story time.

The center will operate year-round from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., making it a convenient option for parents working at nearby locations like the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Future expansion plans for the summer of 2025 include extending early education services to infants and toddlers.

To register for the open house, interested parties can visit the school’s website. Upon arrival, attendees are instructed to drive behind the main school building and park in the designated back lot. For those interested in enrolling their children in the Early Learning Center, applications can be submitted online. The school welcomes first-time families of all faiths.

At Little Flower School Early Learning Center, the philosophy centers on recognizing the unique qualities of each child and providing a nurturing environment that supports their individual growth and development. The faith-based program emphasizes a family-centered partnership, aiming to facilitate a smooth transition from home to school and strengthen the positive interactions between parents, children, and staff.
