Officers apprehended two suspects early Tuesday morning during a burglary in progress at a residence on Brushyridge Road.

At approximately 12:50 a.m. on June 25, 2024, police responded to reports of a burglary at a vacant apartment in the 8200 block of Brushyridge Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered three male suspects inside the property. The suspects attempted to flee on foot, leading to a brief pursuit.

One suspect was apprehended shortly after the chase began. A second suspect was located with the assistance of K9 “Yago” and additional officers. K9 “Quinn” played a crucial role by leading officers to a loaded stolen 9mm handgun in the vicinity where the second suspect was apprehended.

The suspects arrested in connection with the burglary are:

  • Deon W. Hawkins-Proctor, an 18-year-old male from Waldorf, Maryland
  • Travon A. Short, a 19-year-old male from Waldorf, Maryland
