In a tragic incident on April 7, 2024, in Hollywood, Maryland, a high-speed collision between a motorcycle and a Hyundai Santa Fe resulted in two fatalities, including the motorcycle rider and a young passenger from the car. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office released the findings of their investigation, highlighting the dangers of excessive speeding.

The accident occurred when Tiernan Anthony Stephenson, the motorcycle operator, was traveling at an alarming speed of 164 miles per hour. Stephenson was pronounced dead at the scene. A nine-year-old passenger in the Hyundai succumbed to injuries five days later, on April 12. The Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit confirmed that Stephenson’s excessive speed was the primary cause of the collision.

Sheriff Steve Hall commented on the devastating impact of the crash, noting the profound effect on the families involved and the community at large. “The impact of this crash has left permanent scars on the families involved; it is devastating,” said Sheriff Hall.
