In anticipation of Tropical Storm Debby, St. Mary’s County has announced the availability of self-service sandbag stations to help residents protect their properties from potential flooding. The sandbags will be accessible on Wednesday, August 7, and Thursday, August 8, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM at St. Andrews Landfill, located at 44837 St. Andrews Church Road.

Residents are advised that the sandbags are not pre-filled and there is a limit of 10-25 sandbags per person, available while supplies last. This measure is part of a broader initiative by the county to prepare for the storm’s impact, ensuring that community members have the necessary resources to safeguard their homes.

Those interested in staying informed during the storm can sign up for SMCG News Releases and Emergency Weather Notifications through the county’s official website. For additional details on sandbag distribution or other preparation measures, the Department of Public Works & Transportation is available at (301) 475-4200, ext. 3551.

The county also encourages residents to visit its dedicated preparation website to access comprehensive resources and guidelines for storm readiness.
