St. Mary’s County, MD — Excitement is brewing as St. Mary’s County Government’s Department of Recreation and Parks (R&P) gears up to unveil the new playground and picnic pavilion at Snow Hill Park. The community is invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony set for Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., marking a significant addition to the local recreational landscape.

The celebration promises to be a festive day for families and children, with the first 50 children receiving a free cup of back-to-school ice cream from the Salted Scoop. Further sweetening the day, ice cream will also be available for purchase at $6 per scoop for other attendees.
Located at 26590 South Sandgates Road in Mechanicsville, Snow Hill Park is a 163-acre waterfront haven that has been open since 2017. It boasts panoramic views of the Patuxent River and serves as an ideal spot for family outings and nature lovers. The new facilities aim to enhance the park’s offerings and provide additional amenities for community enjoyment.
