Southern Maryland is set to celebrate its 7th Annual LGBTQIA+ Pride event on October 13, 2024, at Lexington Manor Passive Park, promising a day filled with community spirit, education, and inclusivity. This significant gathering, known for being the largest LGBTQIA+ event in the region, will run from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 21675 South Coral Drive, Lexington Park, MD.

Starting as a small gathering in 2017, Pride Southern Maryland (SOMD) has evolved into a major annual celebration, attracting over 1,500 participants each year. The event, previously held at Calvert Marine Museum, has found a lasting venue in St. Mary’s County’s Lexington Manor Passive Park, offering a historic backdrop to a day of unity and visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community.

The event will showcase a diverse array of attractions including stalls from LGBTQIA+ small businesses, a variety of vendors, food trucks, a kids zone, live DJ performances, drag shows, and inspirational speakers. A silent auction will also be part of the festivities, further engaging the attendees in support of the community.

Pride SOMD’s commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment is evident through its continuous efforts to amplify LGBTQIA+ voices and foster visibility and education. This commitment extends to all members of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties, embodying the organization’s mission to nurture a supportive community where everyone can feel seen, heard, and celebrated.

Tammy Gladstone, Chair of Pride SOMD, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event, emphasizing unity and community support. “We are excited to welcome everyone to our 7th Annual Pride event,” Gladstone stated. “Each year, we strive to create an event that not only celebrates the diversity of our community but also brings people together in a spirit of unity and support. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and new friends alike as we continue to grow and strengthen our community.”
