In a spirited contest at Prince George’s Stadium, the Harrisburg Senators overcame an early deficit to defeat the Bowie Baysox 7-5 on Wednesday night. The game marked the Baysox’s ninth consecutive loss, their longest losing streak since June 2017.

The Bowie Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, took an early lead with a dynamic start. Dylan Beavers and Creed Willems sparked the offense with back-to-back home runs in the first inning, giving Bowie a quick 3-0 advantage. Beavers, the Orioles’ No. 6 prospect, launched a two-run homer, his 13th of the season, followed by Willems with a 411-foot solo shot, his third at this level.

Bowie’s starting pitcher, Patrick Reilly, showcased his skills with one of his strongest performances this season. The Orioles’ No. 14 prospect pitched five shutout innings, striking out a Double-A career-high eight batters, and allowing just two hits and one walk. Reilly has amassed 133 strikeouts over 111.1 innings this year across High-A and Double-A.

However, the tides turned in the sixth inning as Harrisburg, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, rallied. They scored four runs to seize their first lead of the game, highlighted by RBI singles from Yohandy Morales and Cayden Wallace, and a game-tying wild pitch from Bowie’s Nick Richmond.

Carter Young of Bowie responded in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double, tying the game once again. But Harrisburg reclaimed the lead in the seventh and continued to build on it with RBI singles from Morales and Trey Harris, extending their lead to 6-4.

Beavers narrowed the gap in the eighth with his second homer of the game, but Harrisburg’s Phillip Glasser delivered a crucial RBI single in the ninth to secure a 7-5 victory for the Senators. Tyler Schoff earned the win with 1.1 shutout innings in relief for Harrisburg.

The Baysox will try to snap their losing streak as they continue their series against the Senators with six more games at home, including Thursday’s match scheduled for 6:35 PM. Alex Pham is set to start for Bowie against Harrisburg’s Dustin Saenz.

Beyond the diamond, the Baysox are hosting various theme nights during this home stand, including a celebration of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, a beach-themed giveaway, and a circus night, promising entertainment for fans of all ages.
