The urgency of the situation escalated after the employee’s vehicle was discovered abandoned in the company’s parking lot, suggesting the possibility that he might be trapped inside the silo. Firefighting units from Bay District, Hollywood, and Solomons Volunteer Fire Departments quickly mobilized to the scene, aided by Maryland State Police Troopers from Leonardtown Barrack and Aviation Command.

In a key development, Trooper 7, a helicopter freshly returned from another mission, spotted an unresponsive man atop the silo during an aerial survey. Rescue efforts intensified as firefighters, employing specialized equipment including Ladder Truck 7 from Hollywood and Bay District Tower 9, made their way to the top of the silo.

Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The operation to recover his body lasted more than two hours. Maryland State Police have since initiated a thorough investigation to determine the precise circumstances leading to his death, with the cause still pending.

The community mourns the loss of the individual, with many expressing deep condolences to his family, friends, and coworkers during this profoundly difficult period.
