ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s soccer team maintained their unbeaten streak with a decisive 2-0 win over Methodist College at the Salisbury Classic on Sunday. This victory advances the Seahawks’ season record to an impressive 4-0-1.

The Seahawks dominated the game early on, with Alyssa McLane scoring just two minutes into the match. McLane skillfully navigated through traffic and delivered a looping shot from the top right corner of the box, marking her second goal of the season.

Throughout the first half, St. Mary’s aggressively outshot Methodist, tallying nine shots to Methodist’s two. Seahawks’ goalkeeper Kylie Wells was called into action only once in the first half, making a crucial save to preserve the early lead.

In the 57th minute, Ashlyn Bonner extended the Seahawks’ lead. Taking a free kick, Bonner expertly placed the ball beyond the reach of the Methodist goalkeeper, scoring her first goal of the season and solidifying the Seahawks’ advantage.

Despite a more assertive effort by the Monarchs in the second half, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. St. Mary’s goalkeeper Emma Tawney made a pivotal save in the second half to help secure the team’s third clean sheet of the season.

The Seahawks’ defensive resilience and offensive efficiency were on full display, reflecting their strong start to the season.

St. Mary’s College will next face Stevenson University on September 11 at 7:00 PM in St. Mary’s City, Maryland, as they look to continue their unbeaten run.
