A new 10-hole disc golf course is now open for public play in Dunkirk. The course is located at Ward Farm Recreation and Nature Park, 10455 Ward Rd. in Dunkirk. It is the only free public disc golf course in Calvert County.
The course is played much like regular golf, but instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. A disc golf hole begins from a tee area and ends at an elevated metal basket. Disc golf is played with a flying disc, similar to golf, but instead of a ball and clubs. The disc is thrown from a tee area and must land in an elevated metal basket to complete the hole.
